China's Ministry of Commerce says the country's foreign trade fundamentals have not changed despite mounting downward pressures.

Citing a nationwide survey conducted by the ministry, Shen Danyang said Chinese exports are being hampered by fluctuation of the yuan, rising costs, week overseas demand and financing difficulties.

The spokesman said the government will continue to alleviate burdens on enterprises and encourage them to innovate to boost exports. China's exports slumped more than 20.6 percent year on year in February.
