Full coverage: G20 Hangzhou Summit
The G20 Trade and Investment Working Group Meeting starts today (Tuesday) in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province. The participants include representatives of the G20 states, several guest countries including Singapore and such international institutions as the WTO, the World Bank and the IMF. China hopes the meeting can produce concrete measures to promote global trade growth.
"We hope we can make concrete achievements through this meeting and coordinate our action in international trade and investment. And also we hope the achievements made through this meeting will pave the way for further negotiations at this year's G20 Summit, which will be held in Hangzhou in September," said Zhang Shaogang, director of Trade & Inv't Dept.,Ministry of Commerce.
Zhang says the world economy has worked its way out of the 2008 economic crisis but the recovery remains highly fragile and growth underpowered. The Trade and Investment Working Group Meeting was initiated by China and will be a supportive function at this year's G20 Summit.
