China, Israel open talks on free trade deal

China and Israel say they have started talks on a free trade agreement. The proposed pact was announced during a meeting between Vice Premier Liu Yandong and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.

The agreement would include technological cooperation and lower trade barriers. China is Israel's third-largest economic partner with annual trade of more than 8 billion dollars.
