BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Google is to launch its Nexus One smartphone in Britain in April through the mobile operator Vodafone, it was reported Monday.
However as seen in the United States the Nexus One will only be sold through Google.com/phone. Tariffs have not yet been announced, but the Nexus One is likely to be priced very similarly to comparable smartphones such as the iPhone.
Built by HTC in Taiwan, the Nexus One is Google’s attempt to assert the superiority of its mobile operating system Android. It is also an attempt to increase competition with Apple’s iPhone and Microsoft’s reinvigorated mobile software, Windows Mobile.
Google and Vodafone have only said that they were committed to delivering the phone to the UK “in the spring” and have not officially given a firm date for its launch.
