Wang made the call during a meeting with a delegation from the U.S.-China Business Council, led by Chairman Andrew Liveris.

As the global economic recovery still faces uncertainties, the two sides should enhance coordination and work closely to fight against trade and investment protectionism, and jointly build a positive, cooperative and comprehensive bilateral relationship for the 21st century, he said.

Wang hailed the success of the 20th China-U.S. Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) talks held in China's eastern city of Hangzhou last week.

He said the rapid growth and tremendous changes of China-U.S. relations and trade cooperation that have taken place since they forged diplomatic ties were beyond imagination back to 30 years ago.

Liveris, who is also chairman and chief executive officer of the Dow Chemical Company, said he would continue to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' enterprises, so as to boost the healthy development of bilateral trade cooperation.
