Julia Roberts
Julia was born on October 28, 1967. This stunningly beautiful and gifted actress is a lean 5'9" with a well-proportioned figure. Her large gray eyes and generous mouth give her face a marvelous expressivity on the screen. Julia's never thought about being an actress when she was young. Her early ambition was to be a veterinarian. After graduating from high school, Julia worked as a saleswoman and then joined her brother and sister in going to acting school. Julia captured headlines all over the world and photographers avidly documented all the smallest details of her private life. But her acting career did not really take off until 1990, when the film "Pretty Woman" came to the screen. The film turned the talented beginning actress into a superstar. Suddenly, everybody wanted Julia. The media was full of news about her, box office profits skyrocketed, and the name Julia Roberts was suddenly on everyone’s lips.
Ten Shining Years
A good beginning is half the battle. In 1990, Julia’s acting in Pretty Woman brought a Cinderella story to life, and she won an Oscar nomination for the film.
From 1991-1996, she played many roles, but none of them was a strong character, and failed to make a deep impression on the audience.
1997 was her turning point. My Best Friend’s Wedding put Julia back on the map.
The late 90’s have been very profitable for Julia, both in financially and career-wise.
On Christmas Day 1998, "Stepmom" was released. And, in the summer of 1999, she had two big blockbusters out in the theaters, "Notting Hill" and "Runaway Bride". Julia then received her first Oscar in 2000 for her part in "Erin Brockovich", a movie based on a true story. Thus she managed to enter the 21st century with an Oscar award best actress.
