《指環王》被稱作“二十世紀之書”，它的銷售量已超過一億冊，而有這部小説改編的電影也是大獲成功。那麼在今天的節目中我們就來説説《指環王》。
The Lord of Ring的作者叫做J.R.R. Tolkien，是英國著名的作家，he wrote the book Lord of the Rings in 1954.後來改編成電影，其中第一部叫做The Fellowship of the Ring護戒使者，第二部叫做The Two Towers 雙塔奇兵。現在正在海外熱播的是第三部，叫做the return of the king王者歸來。
我感覺這部電影當虛擬出了很多種生物種族the race像魔法師，精靈族，矮人族等等是很有想象力的。

A wizard's appearance resembles that of an old man, although they age slowly and are actually physically vigorous.
They use staffs as a means to conduct their power and will.
Each Wizard has his own color and grade. White being the highest in their order and Grey the next level in power and wisdom.

Dwarves are four to five feet tall with the male Dwarves long-bearded.
Dwarves are great miners, craftsmen and work wonders with stone, metals, and jewels.
In war, Dwarves use an axe as their weapon of choice.
the fellowship of the ring
The story of Lord of the Rings happened in mythic Middle Earth, a young hobbit named Frodo inherits a magic ring from his elderly cousin.
The ring will enable Dark Lord Sauron to enslave the people of land. Frodo tried his best to thwart Sauron, he recruits the fellowship of a wizard, 一個魔法師an elf,一個精靈族人 a dwarf 一個侏儒族人and others on a mission to destroy the ring by casting it into the volcanic fires in the Crack of Doom.
However, the ring unleashes its own power as a result of the struggle.
the two towers
The two towers指的是the towers of Saruman and Sauron. 這個Sauron就是我們前面講的那個黑暗王the Dark Lord, 這個Saruman則是一個魔法師，a wizard,他曾經也是一個偉大的魔法師，由於深入鑽研敵人，慢慢使他無法自拔，變成了一個邪惡的魔法師。
The second chapter of the Lord of the Rings is about Frodo and his allies strive to rescue the abducted hobbits Pippin and Merry from the clutches of evil.
The great wizard Gandalf also makes his miraculous return to aid in the struggle against the united towers of Saruman and Sauron.
這裡的Gandalf是在第一部中出現的the hobbit的守護者灰衣法師，在第二部中他又神奇的出現並變成了白衣法師。
魔法師wizard中衣服的顏色可能代表着法術高低吧，就像跆拳道中腰帶的顏色似的，白衣法師要比灰衣法師的法術要高一些。
Sing a Song
今天我們要學的這首歌是來自911的wonderland。911樂隊是一支來自英國的三人組合，他們的名字與美國世貿大樓可沒有關係，當時給樂隊起名字時，只是為了好記，他們便用美國的報警電話號碼911作為樂隊的名字了。
這首歌表達了盼望和平,讓世界充滿愛,人們都可以生活在wonderland中這樣的一種願望。在剛才的MV中我們聽到一句Spread a little love，傳播一點點的愛，這裡的spread 是傳播的意思，比如説，the news was spread very fast. 這個消息被傳播的很快，這裡你要注意spread的過去式和過去分詞是沒有變換的，和動詞原形一樣。
spread還有展開，伸開的意思，比如説the bird spread its wings. 鳥展開了翅膀。還可以説，I’m spreading my fingers. 我伸開了手指。
destiny leads the way, 這裡的destiny是什麼意思呢？destiny就是命運的意思，那這句話就是命運指引了道路。
我想起另外一個詞destination目標 終點的意思,它很像是destiny的名詞形式,其實不是,我們應該把他們區分開destination目標 終點的意思, destiny命運，
embrace這個詞的本意是擁抱的意思，與hug是同義詞hug也是擁抱的意思，比如説I embraced him with a friend’s arm.我給了他一個朋友的擁抱。
Embrace可以引申為環繞的意思，比如説The island is in the embrace of the sea.這個島被海環繞着。你還可以説 The warm water embrace me.我在溫暖的水之中，溫暖的水環繞着我。
