精彩對白:
Andrew: Just now we mentioned tour and independent
travelling. We also have two concept of traveller and
tourist, very similar to what you have said. Tourist
are somebody taking seats on the bus and taking
photos. While travellers are those who go
independently, going to the quiet place where they
personally interest in.
Zhao Yinqi: We use holiday and vacation a lot. What's
the difference between the two words?
Andrew: The main reason is that holiday is british
English and vacation is American English. That's the
main difference. There is also slightly a difference
feeling about them. Holiday originally means Holy Day.
Because Holy Day was also holiday. While vacation
means to be empty.
Gong Yanling: You get a few days off from your work.
That is a vacation.
Andrew: But the meaning is the same nowadays, just
vacation in the US whereas holiday in English.
Probably the difference between holiday and vacation
is the usage. If you say "I am going to go on a
holiday." or "I am going to be on a holiday." These
are two different meanings. To be on holiday, actually
means you are not working, you do not have to work.
Whereas to go on a holiday means you are going to
travel somewhere else.
