South Korea says it has a "positive view" on the agreement between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Hyundai Group. The agreement will resume inter-Korean tourism projects and facilitate the re-opening of the joint industrial park at Kaesong.
Chun Hae-Sung, S. Korea Unification Ministry spokesman, said, "Our government positively values the joint statement announced after Hyundai's discussion with the DPRK. But this a non-government level agreement. So to accomplish these items of understandings, detailed discussions are necessary between government authorities."
The agreement follows a meeting between the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-il, and the chief of South Korea's Hyundai Group, Hyun Jung-eun. She has returned to South Korea after her week-long trip in Pyongyang. The Hyundai chief says her meeting with Kim Jong-il was held in a warm, peaceful manner.
