Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang says China stands by the UN resolutions as a US Navy ship monitors a DPRK vessel suspected of carrying weapons. The Kang Nam is being shadowed at sea under new UN sanctions that bar the DPRK from exporting weapons, including missile parts and nuclear materials.
Qin Gang said at the regular press conference on Tuesday that China hopes for the long term peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and that's why China will continue pushing forward the denuclearization under the UN resolutions.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said, "China will strictly follow the related resolutions of the UN Security Council. Meanwhile, we think the related monitoring and examining should also follow the resolutions and the international and national laws."
Qin also said that China has maintained close communications with related countries, including the US, on Korean Peninsula situation and UN resolutions. And he repeated China's stance on South Korea's proposal of a five-party talk without the DPRK's participation on DPRK's nuclear issue.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said, "China will stick to negotiations and talks. The Six-Party Talk is the best way to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. China is willing keep close communications with other countries on specific matters."
On the post-election situation in Iran, Qin said China respects the decision of the Iranian people and hopes for the solidarity and stability in Iran.
