鈥淭here are two kinds of people in the world. One becomes depressed and defeated from hardship and the other gets refined. I learned to be one of those.鈥These are words from Wu Junmei, also known as Vivian Wu is a famous movie actress who鈥檚 earned her fame not only in China but in the world.

She is Wen Hsiu in The Last Emperor. She is An Mei鈥檚 mother in The Joy Luck Club. She is Soong May-Ling in The Soong Sisters. She is movie actress Wu Junmei, also known as Vivian Wu. She has earned her fame not only in China but also in the world.

Born in Shanghai, China, Vivian Wu has been acting since her debut with the Shanghai Film Studio at age fifteen. She first gained notice among American filmgoers with her turn as Wen Hsui in the Oscar-winning film "The Last Emperor." Although still very much at the beginning of her career, Ms. Wu has already worked with such prestigious directors as Bernardo Bertolucci and Oliver Stone and shared the screen with Ewan McGregor and Tommy Lee Jones. Since then she has been working constantly in both television and film, and was voted one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 1990.
