I don't see why there is an issue for China if there is trade protection in the US. American products are too expensive for the average Chinese citizen, that's the cause of the trade deficit. Besides, what is done within America might have an indirect effect on the rest of the world, but it is an internal decision, like going on a diet. Other countries have more subtle means of protectionism, artificially manipulating their currencies, for instance, to make other nations incapable of competing in, for instance, textile manufacturing.

I don't think this is a good policy to fight against terrible financial crisis in a long term.Currently,it isnot a wise choice at least. I think trade globalization is more effective than protectionisim.

I think that in short term protectnism is the right choice, but it does not last long, because most all countris must protect their own trade interest.

Never say that protectionism is the right choice to deal the recent facing events as financial crisis .As we all know,protectionism is a short policy to deal with the crisis,but it can't solve the question entirely,it is good to one country only,but bad to the global economy,and the future development of a country!So I don't reckon the presdient Obama's view!
