China has expressed its extreme displeasure over remarks by Japanese leaders about visiting the Yasukuni Shrine during Vice Premier Wu Yi's visit. The shrine honors Japan's war dead, including convicted war criminals. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Kong Quan, said the Chinese government puts great importance on Sino-Japanese relations. He called for joint efforts to fulfill Chinese President Hu Jintao's five-point proposal on improving relations.
