Sharon may meet Abbas soon

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon may hold talks with Mahmoud Abbas sometime soon, but will still closely watch how each side curbs violence. Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom says the most urgent task for Abbas is to crack down on armed groups, so all concerned can move closer towards peace. He made the remarks Monday, while meeting in Jerusalem with US Senator John Kerry. Shalom notes that Parliament is backing Sharon's Gaza disengagement plan, something that the Palestinian Authority welcomes.
