Guangzhou city is now keeping a close eye on all people who rear wild animals.
According to a survey carried out by the center of disease control, those who work with wild animals carry a greater risk of contracting SARS than people in other occupations.
In a move to minimize all possible spread of the disease, the local government has stated that all workers coming in contact with wild animals must register their personal information.
The health department will also take blood samples, random blood tests and receive regular updates on the status of the workers' health.
