Southern China´s Guangdong confirms a SARS case

Local health officials confirmed Saturday a SARS case in south China's Guangdong Province.

This is the first SARS case to emerge in mainland China in months. And the case would be the first in the world not linked to laboratory accidents since the WHO declared the end of the SARS outbreak in July.

The patient was admitted to hospital in Guangdong on December 20. He was not linked to the medical profession.
