The UN Security Council has strongly condemned Sunday's suicide attack in Iran. The attack killed top commanders in the Revolutionary Guards amongst dozens of others.

Security Council President Le Luong Minh read out a statement underlining the need to bring the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors to justice.

The statement reaffirms the UN's determination to combat all forms of terrorism, and was a response to a letter from Iran's UN ambassador.

The Iranian government demanded the Security Council send out a message that such acts cannot be tolerated.
