The US is seeking to soothe anger in Pakistan over a proposed multi-billion-dollar US aid package.
Senator John Kerry told Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi lawmakers will include a statement that Washington has no intention of interfering with Pakistan's sovereignty.
The bill was to provide Pakistan with one and a half billion US dollars a year over the next five years for democratic, economic and social development programmes.
But the Pakistani military has objected to language that links the money to Pakistan cracking down on militancy and meeting other conditions.
John Kerry, US Senator, said, "There is absolutely nothing in this bill related to private security firms or drone attacks or a host of other issues that are being raised by the press. And finally there is nothing in this bill that impinges on Pakistan sovereignty. Period. End of issue. And we have no intention of doing so."
