In Shanghai, property prices and transactions have been on the increase since March. A property fair will be held in the city between April 9th and 11th. The organizer says the price of 40 percent of pre-owned properties at the fair will be under 20 thousand yuan per square meter.
This figure compares well with prices of new properties in the city center, which are around 40 thousand yuan. First time buyers in the city normally look to purchase properties at less than one million yuan. The organizer says such properties are available, and make up 20 percent of the houses on show. They are mostly located in the suburbs and nearby counties around 100 kilometers out from the city.
