Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

After attending the one-year Olympic countdown celebration in Beijing, IOC President Jacques Rogge has paid a visit to Hong Kong. He inspected the equestrian venue and expressed his satisfaction with Hong Kong's Olympic preparation work.

Rogge visited the Hong Kong Jockey Club on Sunday - the venue for the 2008 Olympic Games equestrian events. The Hong Kong Jockey Club organized a test event for equestrian disciplines over the weekend. It included international as well as local competitors taking part in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing.

After the inspection, Rogge said he was quite impressed with the venue and Hong Kong's Olympic preparations.

Rogge said, "I'm very happy with the preparations. The riders I spoke to are happy. So this is very promising and I believe that we will have absolutely fabulous games next year. I believe that the whole of Hong Kong will mobilize around this event. And equestrianism will have a very big exposure, both nationally and internationally."
