Obama nominates Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

US President-elect Barack Obama has named Shaun Donovan as his nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. He made the announcement on Saturday in his weekly address broadcast on YouTube.

Obama praised Donovan's track record as New York's housing commissioner where he managed a 7.5 billion US dollar project to put half a million people in affordable homes. Obama said the nation need to approach the old challenge of affordable housing with new energy, new ideas, as well as a new and more efficient style of leadership.
