Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
The World Health Organization says the A/H1N1 flu has now spread to 66 countries and regions.
The number of infected is close to 20 thousand people, after the United States alone reported more than one thousand new cases.
The WHO says it's getting closer to officially declaring a global outbreak. The virus is now responsible for 117 deaths, of which 97 have come in Mexico.
Its neighbor the United States says the influenza has now reached all its 50 states. Meanwhile, Egypt reported its first case in a 12-year-old Egyptian-American boy.
That makes it the first country on the African continent to detect the virus. China confirmed 2 new cases of A/H1N1 flu on Wednesday, bringing the total number in the Chinese mainland to 51.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong confirmed a new flu case, bringing the total number in the SAR to 27.
