Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
Chinese Vice Premier, Li Keqiang, has inspected Beijing's work in controlling the spread of A/H1-N1 flu. During Friday's inspection, he emphasized the importance of developing a flu vaccine.
Li Keqiang first went to the Chinese Medical Science Academy. He asked scientists and researchers to put more effort into developing and producing an A/H1N1 flu vaccine.
The Vice Premier spoke positively about the country's prevention and control of the disease during the past month. He praised a mechanism combining efforts from all sectors of society, which has done much to prevent the virus from entering the country.
Li Keqiang called for more attention at points of entry and improvement of a supervision network on the spread of the flu.

He said although the country has confirmed its first domestic infection on the mainland, there's no need to panic, saying the disease is controllable and curable.
The Vice Premier says emphasis should be given to improving disease prevention and controlling capabilities at the grassroots level.
Li Keqiang then paid a visit to Beijing Kexing Biological Product Company, where he learned about progress in researching and producing a flu vaccine and medicine. He said vaccination plays a crucial role in preventing and controlling infectious diseases.
