Speaking after the meeting with Hu Jintao, Wu Poh-Hsiung described his visit to the Chinese mainland as beneficial to both sides.

Wu said he and leaders of the Chinese Mainland agreed that the CPC and Kuomintang should do more to further promote the relationship between the two sides. He noted that it is very important for the two parties to meet regularly. He added a joint forum will be held later this year in Chang-sha, Hunan province. Wu said he and KMT honorary Chairman Lien Chan will attend the forum, which aims to boost cultural exchanges across the strait.

Kuomintang Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung said, "There is a feeling of mutual trust between us. We think what we are doing is right. We will continue the efforts, and never look back."
