The two-day Russia-EU summit has concluded, with both sides saying the summit made progress. But differences remain over energy supplies.

A broad range of issues were discussed in the Russian city of Khabarovsk, including the ongoing financial crisis, Russia's proposals on the European energy charter, and various security issues.

The two sides have made progress toward a new partnership agreement to strengthen ties.

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said, "There are no doubts in the strategic character of the partnership that exists between Russia and the European Union. We think that kind of partnership allows us to deflect direct threats and resolve problems associated with the financial crisis."
