Georgia and Russia have made some progress on security arrangements after a fifth round of talks in Geneva.

Special EU representative on the Georgian crisis, Pierre Morel, is one of the co-chairs of the talks. He says there is a "constructive spirit" at the meeting and progress is back on track after some problems.

On Monday, Russia and South Ossetia left during the meeting and Abkhazia refused to take part. However, all parties took part in Tuesday's talks. Questions such as human rights and aid for uprooted civilians were raised during the talks.

All sides agreed to meet again on July the 1st for talks intended to head off any further conflict in the area. The talks were launched after Russia and Georgia fought a brief war last August over South Ossetia.

The international mediators of the talks include the EU, the US and the organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. The talks focus on practical security and humanitarian problems.
