Manchester United have won the Premier League for the first time in four years after 10-man Chelsea could only draw 1-1 at Arsenal on Sunday.
The result came a day after United beat Manchester City 1-0, leaving Alex Ferguson's side seven points clear of Chelsea with two games remaining.
Chelsea had needed a victory to keep their title hopes alive. But those hopes took a blow when Chelsea centre back Khalid Boulahrouz brought down Julio Baptista and was sent off. Gilberto converted a penalty in the 43rd minute to put Arsenal 1-0 ahead.
But with 20 minutes remaining, Michael Essien's glancing header gave Chelsea hope and led to a furious late assault. However, they were unable to find the all-important second goal. The draw leaves Arsenal level with third-placed Liverpool on 67 points but behind on goal difference.
