The dispute over Iran's presidential election result continues. On Saturday, the country's Expediency Council stressed that legal ways were the only means to settle differences over the issue.

Meanwhile, the Iranian official news agency reported that the government has banned the defeated candidate, Mir Hossein Mousavi, from leaving the country.

On Saturday morning, the Expediency Council released a statement urging the Guardian Council to carefully and fairly investigate all claims and complaints about the June 12th election.

The Expediency Council arbitrates in disputes between the parliament and the Guardian Council, which is charged with supervising elections in the country. The Expediency Council also serves as an advisory body to the supreme leader.

It asked all presidential candidates to cooperate fully with the Guardian Council experts, and ensure that the Council has all necessary documents for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the official Iran news agency reported that the government has banned the opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi from leaving Iran.

The head of Mousavi's media office, Abolfazl Fateh, who was also involved in the ban, says it will not change Mousavi's political stance. He added that the reason for the travel ban is his role in post-election developments.
