China, Russia to strengthen co-op between legislative bodies

During his stay in Moscow, President Hu Jintao met with the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Boris Gryzlov, on Thursday.

President Hu said that fruitful cooperation and close exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries in recent years have provided a catalyst for the development of overall bilateral relations.

The Chinese president also made a three-point proposal for the two legislative bodies to expand efforts in the interests of the overall bilateral relationship.

Meanwhile, Boris Gryzlov said Russia's State Duma would also help to advance the friendship between the two countries. He noted that it was especially important to encourage cooperation between different localities in the two countries. And especially, promote cooperation between Russia's Far East and China's Northeast region.
