Special Report: Air France jet vanishes |

Brazilian search teams continue scouring choppy Atlantic waters for remains of Air France flight 447. But the Brazilian military now says the first debris removed by helicopter is not from the same plane.

A Brazilian Air Force commander says helicopters pulled a luggage pallet from a crash area northeast of Brazil's coast earlier on Thursday. But investigators later determined the pallet was not part of the Airbus jet.

Brigadier Ramon Cardoso, Brazilian Air France, said, "It has been verified that the debris did not belong to the plane. They were wood pallets that were used by ships and sometimes planes, but on this flight to Paris, there were no wood pallets."

Heading into the fifth day of searching, the Brazilian military says prospects of finding survivors are extremely remote. Even the hopes of finding remains fades with every minute.
