Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
The number of confirmed A/H1N1 flu infections has been increasing on the Chinese mainland, as well as in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and on Taiwan island.
As of Thursday evening, China reported another confirmed case in north China's Shanxi Province. The patient is a 20-year-old man who just returned from studies in Canada. This is the first confirmed A/H1N1 flu case in Shanxi Province. This brings the total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland to 61.
Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, local health authorities say three people tested positive for the A/H1N1 influenza virus on Thursday. That brings the number of confirmed cases of the disease in the S.A.R. to thirty.
Meanwhile, Taiwan authorities are reporting two newly confirmed cases, bringing the total number of confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases to sixteen on the island. The two patients both travelled from abroad and are now in stable condition. Among the sixteen confirmed patients in Taiwan, eleven have already recovered, including one patient who contracted the disease locally.
