Along Beijing's famous Liulichang antique street -- an exhibition of traditional Chinese ink and brush paintings dedicated to the loving animal is on show. The 120 works on display were all painted by Fan Zeng, one of the leading lights on the contemporary Chinese art scene. He has specially created these paintings to mark the New Year.

Painter Fan Zeng said, "The Ox was the major driving power in agricultural societies. It can be regarded as the "national animal" of China. This subject should be very interesting for artistic creation."
