The Capital Museum is offering an alternative way for Chinese people to celebrate the lunar New Year. A special exhibition opened on Sunday and features everything there is to know about the ox, the zodiac animal of 2009.

From sculptures and porcelain items to paper-cutting and root-carving, oxen are presented in various art forms. One of the highlights is "The Auspicious Year of the ox". It's divided into four parts about how to play, and what to eat, sing and give as gifts during the lunar New Year.

Visitors will also experience a live show presented by a dozen folk artists who will move their workshops into the museum. During the Spring Festival, the Capital Museum will cancel its regular booking process. Entry is free at all times.
