Tu Lou is a cultural legacy of the Hakka people living in Fujian. The indigenous structures are adaptations to the climate and terrain of Fujian. The complex attracts visitors from around the globe.

Tu Lou is also treasured for its pillar couplets, carvings and the ancient calligraphy that decorates the buildings. In these designs we find the creative spirt of the Hakka people.

The recognition of Tu Lou as a world cultural heritage is expected to bring a surge of tourism. Local government has increased efforts to protect the sites.
