Special Report: 5th Cross-Straits Forum |
Taiwan has announced it will open 100 sectors to investors on the Chinese mainland. On Tuesday, the island's economic affairs authority released detailed rules on how this investment will operate.
As of July, investors from the mainland will be allowed to invest in areas including automobiles, plastics and PC manufacturing. However, semiconductor fabrication, LCD production, and the telecom sector will still be closed to mainland investment.
Increased mainland investment in the island has long been expected since the warming-up of cross strait relations. Taiwan's economic affairs authority says it will send delegates to the mainland to woo businessmen starting in August.
