The UN is holding a high-level meeting on economic and financial crisis in New York. Developing countries had a clear message on Wednesday, requiring more money and more say. Qi Tianxing has the details.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says very few countries are enjoying any signs of economic recovery and the world needs to mobilize to change.

Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary-General, says, "for a large number of countries, there are no "green shoots" of recovery. There are only fallow fields. The real impact of the crisis could stretch for years."

The UN chief also backed the plea by poor countries for more financial aid. He chided the world's wealthy nations for reneging on pledges to boost aid to Africa.

Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary-General, says, "surely, if the world can mobilize more than 18 trillion dollars to keep the financial sector afloat, it can find more than 18 billion dollars to keep commitments to Africa."

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told the conference that resources for international development cooperation are dwindling.
