China Telecom says it's planning to extend its 3G network to over 100 large and medium-sized cities nationwide this year.
The company launched its first commercial trial of 3G services in Shanghai in mid March. But it only offered wireless Internet access, with maximum band speed of 3.1 megabits per second -- twenty times faster than in the 2G era.
China Telecom is offering special deals for 3G services until the end of the month.
