China Telecom has launched the third generation telecom service, or 3G service, in eastern China's Jiangsu province. 3G technology enables people to make video calls, watch TV and surf the Internet with the use of mobile phones.

China Telecom has launched the third generation telecom  service, or 3G service, in eastern China's Jiangsu province.

This new launch comes after China Mobile started 3G service based on self-developed TD-SCDMA technology in ten cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Qingdao. China Telecom also plans to extend its 3G service to 100 cities across the country in April or May.

And China Mobile says it will enlarge its service to seventy percent of all cities across the country by the end of this year.
