Japan's Asahi Shimbun said on Wednesday that the CPPCC had received nearly 300 proposals. Most focus on economic issues, including expanding domestic demand, migrant worker jobs in small and medium cities, food security, and agricultural revenue.

And Japan's Daily Yomiuri said that China proposed a 4-trillion-yuan stimulus plan last year and is subsidizing farmers to buy home appliances. Special attention is on whether the Chinese government will propose to increase public investment and stimulate consumption at the NPC session.

An editorial in the flagship Chinese-language daily in Singapore, Lianhe Zaobao, says the fundamental reason for global focus on China's stimulus package lies in the plan's impacts on other nations' economies. It says China has such influential capacity due to its economic and trading scale, as well as the government's strong purchasing power. The paper notes that amid the financial crunch, China could save itself at least. It won't add to the burden of other countries. And what's more, the country is willing and able to create opportunities for the recovery of the world economy.

South Korea's Joong Ang Daily says stimulating economic development will top the agenda of the NPC and CPPCC sessions.

CNN reports that the NPC session will focus on issues such as jobs, economy and social stability. The top agenda will be fighting the global financial crisis and maintaining economic growth.
