China's steel exports are likely to fall by up to 25 percent year-on-year to 45 million tons this year, according to Guosen Securities analyst Zheng Dong.

The country's steel exports stood at 59.23 million tons last year, down 5.5 percent compared to a year earlier, according to statistics from the General Administration of Customs.

Zheng told the 2009 China Steel Export summit that China's steel industry was likely to recover in the second half of this year as a result of the government's stimulus package.
