Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

Beijing wants to use the 2008 Olympics to showcase energy-efficient technology. There is a forum in Beijing on Monday, aimed at making the next Olympics the greenest ever.

The forum is part of Energy Saving Week which kicked off on Sunday.

Participants exchanged opinions on building a green Olympiad, including air quality control, waste and sewage treatment, and energy-efficient construction.

The National Stadium is the main venue of the 29th Olympiad. Experts say some key energy-saving technologies will be initiated in building the stadium.

Ding Gao, senior engineer of China Architecture Design & research Group said:"In building the National Stadium, we have adopted some key energy-saving and ecological technologies, such as rain recycling systems and solar energy system. In particular, the rain recycling system is a technology that Beijing initiated."
