Special Report: Tech MaxBOGOTA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The authorities of Colombian town Zipaquira, where the country's first A/H1N1 flu case was reported, will send doctors to treat patients with flu symptoms at home to reduce the spreading of the virus, government officials said on Monday.
Mayor of the town Jorge Gonzalez said six medical teams will be dispatched to find A/H1N1-infected patients among people with flu symptoms.
Colombia reported on Sunday the first case of A/H1N1 flu, a person who recently returned from a visit to Cancun, Mexico.
"We only discovered one case, and had informed the local residents about this to ease their fears," Gonzalez said.
Andres Gonzalez, the governor of Cundinamarca, the province where Zipaquira is located, also urged people to remain calm.
"There are three suspected cases in Cundinamarca and the lab tests of those cases will soon be completed," the governor said.
The Colombian government said that there were one confirmed case, four hospitalized patients with A/H1N1 flu symptoms, 108 suspected cases and 210 alerts.
