Taiwan stocks close higher on new measures

Also benefiting are Taiwan stocks, which closed higher on Monday, outpacing other Asian bourses. The Mainland measures spurred buying in transport, tourism and property.

The main TAIEX index closed nearly one and three-quarters percent higher, to end just under 66-hundred. That's its strongest finish in a week. and hovering around an eight-month closing high reached last week. The transportation sub-index surged almost 4 and a half percent.

The tourism sub-index recouped early losses to close the session 4 percent higher and the construction sub-index jumped 4 and a third percent.
