"Road to Revival" debuted in Beijing |
The stage drama traces the country's history from the Opium Wars, to major war time battles, the founding of new China, reconstruction of the republic, and rescue missions during the 1998 flood, and last year's Wenchuan earthquake.
The dress rehearsal began at seven-thirty on Sunday night, in strict accordance to the finalized program.
"Road to Revival" is the third music and dance epic commemorating the founding of new China, after the "East is Red" and "Song of the Chinese Revolution". The five-act, two-and-a-half-hour performance depicts the exploration, struggle, and development through the past 169 years of China's history, and presents a revived chronicle of the Chinese nation on stage.
