FAO: A/H1N1 in pigs must be closely monitored

Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 fluThe UN's Food and Agriculture Organization is calling on national authorities and farmers to carefully monitor pigs, and investigate any possible flu-like symptoms in domestic animals.

The agency says surveillance for porcine respiratory disease should be intensified and all cases should be immediately reported to authorities.
The organization stresses that there is absolutely no need to slaughter animals to prevent the A/H1N1 virus from spreading.
