Thai media tycoon Sondhi Limthongkul has accused the Thai military of being behind an attack on his life.

Sondhi is the founder of the People's Alliance for Democracy movement and a campaigner against ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

He says the attack in April was carried out by a team of professional assassins, but he has offered no proof to support his suspicions.

Sondhi's supporters have also said they suspect army involvement in the attack, but offered no proof.

Thailand's army chief has confirmed that bullets used in the attack were issued to a special military division. But he says an investigation has not yet determined how they were "leaked."

Sondhi was ambushed on his way to work on 17th April by men in a pickup truck firing assault rifles.

The assassination attempt came amid fierce anti-government protests against Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva by the so-called "red shirts."
