Asian leaders gather for Boao Forum annual conference

Special Report: Boao Forum for Asia 2009Asian leaders have gathered in the city of Bo'ao, in south China's Hainan province for the eighth Bo'ao Forum for Asia.
Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, met there with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Iranian Vice President, Parviz Davoudi, Myanmar's Prime Minister, General Thein Sein, Mongolian Prime Minister, Sanj Bayar and Kazakhstan's President, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Premier Wen Jiabao says the 3-day forum will increase confidence between Asian countries and strengthen cooperation as they deal with the economic downturn. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Bo'ao forum on Saturday.
Asian leaders say the global financial crisis makes this year's session particularly significant. They believe the conference will enhance understanding and cooperation, and boost confidence.

SANYA, Hainan, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here on Friday with his Myanmar counterpart Thein Sein in south China's Hainan Province, calling on closer bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy and transportation network construction. Full Story>>

SANYA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here Friday with Parviz Davoodi, first vice president of Iran, in south China's Hainan Province.
