DPRK pulls out of six-party talks

The Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea says the country will withdraw from the six-party nuclear talks.

The announcement came in response to a presidential statement from the UN Security Council on its recent rocket launch.

The Ministry also says the DPRK will not fulfill any agreements reached so far in the nuclear talks. A statement from the Ministry said the DPRK will strengthen its nuclear power for the purpose of "self-defense".

DPRK State Television Newsreader, said, "We will take the measures to restore to their original state of all nuclear facilities that had been disabled under the agreement of the six-party talks. We will put the operation on a normal track and as part of it, will fully reprocess the spent fuel rods churned out from the pilot atomic power plant."
