The Korean Peninsula nuclear issue was a top priority at the meeting between Hu Jintao and Kim Yong Il. Hu Jintao said the plan for the six-party talks had run into difficulties. He said he hoped the parties involved would properly deal with all existing problems, and that the talks will resume at the earliest opportunity.

President Hu said China is willing to work with the other parties for this goal. The two leaders reviewed a decades-old friendship between China and the DRPK, as the two countries celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
