Chinese leaders meet with DPRK PM

This year marks the 60th anniversary of China-DPRK diplomatic ties. President Hu said China is marking the occasion by deepening exchanges and strengthening cooperation with the DPRK.
Hu Jintao said he believes the China-DPRK Friendship Year would elevate bilateral cooperation to a higher level. Hu Jintao also said China is willing to contribute further to six-party talks on the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue. He said China will make joint efforts with the DPRK and other relevant parties to solve the issue peacefully. Kim conveyed greetings from DPRK leader Kim Jong Il to President Hu. He said the Friendship Year exchange program can help inform younger generations about the importance of the DPRK-China friendship.
In a separate meeting, top legislator Wu Bangguo called for further exchanges and cooperation between the two legislative bodies to further develop relations. Kim said the DPRK is willing to make joint efforts to carry out the DPRK-China Friendship Year to pave the way for improved ties and cooperation in the future.
